Peugeot 504 Berline was presented to the public in September 1968.  Shortly followed Coupe and Cabriolet versions which were exhibited at Geneva Show in 1969. The Pininfarina design epitomised the philosophy of Peugeot as one of the world's oldest surviving manufacturers - to build sturdy and safe cars with above average comfort and good handling.  The 504, the successor of the 404, was an instant success and more than three million cars were built before the production ceased in February 1983.  The model is still being produced in some countries (notably Argentina and China) and continues to be one of the easiest recognised faces of motoring.
