AUSTIN SEVEN "RUBBER DUCK" RACER

This racer was built in late 1931 and raced at the Berlin Grand Prix in 1932 and 1933. Believed to have been the basis for the 1934 750 record breaker. Rebuilt into a sand racer in 1935 for Sir Percy Stephenson, who drove it at Southport Sands. It was last raced at Southport in 1938. It was discovered in 1999 and will be ready for racing in 2000.

Specifications:
Chassis is "Rubber Duck" but with later tubular articulated front axle with underslung spring. Rear axle is offset to allow lower seating. The engine is fitted with Austin manufactured Rootes supercharger giving about 15 lb/sq in boost and 56 bhp at 6000 rpm. The car is fuelled by Methanol.
