EUROTOUR 2002 - To Berlin and back in an Austin 7

By John Sutton

On the 27th July 80 Austin Sevens will set off on a two week rally to Berlin. The route will take in Brussels, Cologne where there will be a visit to the Rosengart Museum and on to Berlin via Hahnenklee.

There will be three days in Potsdam from which trips to Berlin will be provided. Your reporter visited Potsdam two years ago with Carol Corliss (see the article on the AVUS Circuit in Features). It is a fascinating area which was in the former Eastern Sector of Berlin and there are beautiful mansions which remain empty to this day as the former owners cannot be traced.

The return journey will include a visit to the AM Motor Museum in Eisenach and detours into France to sample the Champagne at Epernay, an opportunity no self respecting Vintage car rally would miss.

On the return to Calais on the 11th of August the cars will have covered 1660 miles. The printed route survey ends with "Return home ????" Lets hope they all do!

Your reporter is treating this trip in his 1931 "Ulster" Austin as a holiday and will accompanied by Mrs. Sutton in one of the "back up" vehicles. It is surprising what woman will do for a new bag!
Pictures and reports will be part of the trip and highlights will be published in motorsnippets. The "Ulster" is currently receiving some attention as it has not been used for 12 years. Can anyone suggest where to attach the "Rally Plates" on the back of an "Ulster"?
